First Bastion, now Transistor

From Supergiant, the makers and creators of the highly favored game Bastion, will soon come science fiction action RPG Transistor. Bastion opened up in the summer of 2012 to great acclaim by critics and the general public alike. From what I have played and experienced of Bastion, it appears that Transistor will have a very similar feel.

The story of Transistor (straight from Supergiant) is as follows:

Players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a mysterious group of assailants nearly kills her with it. Now she must fight from street to street against forces that will stop at nothing to recover the weapon. During the course of the adventure, players will piece together the Transistor’s mysteries as they pursue its former owners.

Supergiant is especially excited about creating truly seamless fast-paced action game play. This is great news for Bastion fans because of the attention being paid to intuitive, responsive play married to an intriguing story with more depth than originally meets the eye.

As of time of publish, there is only a tentative, year long window for the release date (sometime in 2014). However, Transistor will be available for play at both PAX East and PAX Prime 2013.

Whether Transistor will come out on the next gen consoles, or via a downloadable title as its predecessor was, has yet to be determined. When the release date does hit, Noble Press will be here to inform you about it. Although the lack of detail is extremely underwhelming at this point, the blow is softened with Supergiant’s promise to let fans be the first to know on how development is coming along.

But I can tell you right now, this game is certainly on my top 5 anticipated list.
